On June 5, in Dushanbe, the Republic of Tajikistan, during a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS, the Regulation on the annual Forum of Commonwealth Volunteers was approved.
The initiative to create the CIS Volunteer Forum was put forward by the Youth Council of the CIS Member States.
The Forum will be held annually under the auspices of the Youth Council, in turn in each Commonwealth country according to the order of the Russian alphabet of the names of the states.
The main goals of the Forum:
- creating an effective platform for dialogue between volunteer organizations of the CIS countries;
- expanding the role of volunteers in public life;
- increasing the prestige and popularization of volunteerism;
- presentation of successful projects in the field of volunteerism.
In 2026, the Forum will be held in Kazakhstan.
Support for the youth volunteer movement is one of the priority areas of the CIS International Youth Cooperation Strategy for 2021–2030.
