May 19 is Children's Public Association Day in modern Russia.
It was on this day in 1922 that the All-Union Pioneer Organization was created. In the USSR, Pioneer Day was one of the main holidays of Soviet schoolchildren. Nowadays, pioneers have been replaced by new formats of schoolchildren's associations, including numerous public organizations formed with the participation of children and young people, and in their interests.
Today, May 19, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin created an interdepartmental working group on the education of children and young people.
Its tasks:
- coordination of the work of government agencies, public associations and other organizations in the field of education of children and young people;
- preparation of proposals for the president;
- analysis of promising programs and projects;
- defining measures to create space in educational organizations.
