This date became the starting point for the formation of a new format of interaction between the former Soviet republics.
Cooperation within the Commonwealth has been established in almost all areas of interstate communication and is carried out through statutory bodies, as well as a system of sectoral cooperation bodies.
Moreover, the mechanisms created within the CIS make it possible to take into account the different degrees of countries' readiness for integration and provide an opportunity for each of them to participate in those areas of cooperation and to the extent that meet its national interests.
